Director of Payroll and Benefits – Full Time, Fully Remote Organization, Work from Home

We are seeking a colleague to join our fully remote team in the position of Director of Payroll and Benefits, and we are poised to hire immediately. The Director of Payroll and Benefits will own all aspects of payroll execution and benefit processing in our integrated UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) payroll and benefits administration system for our fast-growing team of 200+ employees. 



  • Payroll – Own and administer all elements of timely preparation and accurate processing of semi-monthly payroll deposits for approximately 200+ employees (exempt and non-exempt, hourly and salaried) in multiple states, including new hire and separation processing; leave of absence payments; retroactive compensation changes; and all withholdings and deductions 
  • Benefits – Own and administer all elements of Multiplier’s integrated payroll and benefits administration system (UKG), including calculating and processing employee benefits  
  • Research and Reporting Conduct the research and processing of complex payroll matters (e.g. disability and maternity leave calculations, FMLA and other unpaid leave, FFCRA benefits). Perform complex Excel calculations of comparative pay structures for prospective employees  
  • Tax – Ensure all local, state and federal governmental requirements are met for employer taxes and employee tax withholdings. Work closely with third-party payroll provider to ensure that all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings are met in all states and localities

Successful candidates will ensure our payroll and benefit procedures are compliant, efficient and current. You will also be able to serve as a strategic thinker to refine and improve our processes in service to our broader mission. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with a deep knowledge of payroll and benefit-related regulations. While your brain is math-ey and you love geeking out on the wonders of Excel, you also possess excellent communication skills and can distill complicated benefits calculations in a user-friendly, approachable manner. You are a senior payroll and benefits subject matter expert yet you are at your best when collaborating with a team of like-minded, dedicated professionals who come to work every day ready to deepen our impact in the world. We welcome diverse experiences and perspectives in our applicant pool, and will be looking for candidates who possess many, but not necessarily all, of the following qualifications and experience: 

  • 5+ years in-depth experience with administration of multi-state payroll and benefit administration including medical/dental, retirement, commuter, FSA and H.S.A for 150+ employees.  
  • Direct and extensive experience processing payroll in UKG.  
  • Significant knowledge of Federal/State/Local regulations, tax withholding, benefits deductions and HR laws and compliance. 
  • Deep understanding of FMLA, wage and hour laws and time reporting policies. 
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel; accounting background 



Direct and extensive experience in configuration and use of integrated benefits/admin systems (particularly UKG), including auto-setup of payroll deductions, self-service open enrollment and direct communication with health insurance companies 



Multiplier provides a comprehensive compensation package, including competitive starting salary range of $110,000-120,000, excellent medical and dental benefits, retirement savings, and generous vacation and sick leave policy.
